About

Prairie Karate Association was incorporated in January of 2012. The objective of the Association is to promote, foster, and develop the sport and martial art of karate within Saskatchewan.  The Association also aims to advance the development of athletes, coaches and officials across all styles of karate in Saskatchewan.

Prairie Karate Association provides the membership with a host of exclusive programs and services including access to Karate specific National Coaching Certified Program (NCCP) courses and certification, membership in Karate Canada and in the World Karate Federation (WKF), access to traditional karate tournaments under WKF rules, access to world class coaches and officials, opportunities to become nationally and internationally certified and access to a comprehensive club insurance program.

Benefits of Belonging to the PKA

The purpose of Prairie Karate Association is to promote, foster, and develop not only the sport and martial art of karate within Saskatchewan but also to advance the development of athletes, coaches and officials across all styles of karate in Saskatchewan.

 

As such, there are several benefits for both smaller and larger style clubs to belonging to the Association.  Some of these benefits include:

 

·       Opportunity to attend provincial/national tournaments that use the WKF system of rules (some tournaments may make slight modifications to the rules as per the decisions/policies of their tournament committee).

 

·       Access to Karate specific NCCP (National Coaching Certification Program) courses and certification.

 

·       Access to a large karate community across Saskatchewan and Canada.

 

·       You become a member of Karate Canada and the World Karate Federation (WKF) which is the only karate organization that is recognized by the IOC.

 

·       Access to world class coaches and officials outside of your style association.

 

·       Access to officials’ courses and opportunities to become nationally/internationally certified.

 

·       Insurance coverage to members.  PKA purchases Sport Accident Insurance to provide insurance coverage to members when training at karate clubs affiliated with PKA, when a seminars or when at tournaments.
